Vino di Anna Bianco 2019

Pale lemon in colour, this wine has citrus aromas coupled with green apple and white flowers.  It is dry, with high acidity, resulting in a taut and mineral palate.  It has a fine, textural backbone which will develop with bottle age.

This wine is a blend of organically grown, indigenous white grapes from Mt Etna; Grecanico, Catarrattto, Minella Bianca and Carricante.  All of the grapes are grown at high altitude on old bush vines.  They were hand harvested, direct pressed, as whole bunches, and fermented together in a small stainless steel tank. Fermentation was conducted by indigenous yeasts without temperature control. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation.  It remained on fine lees for 8 months before being bottled without clarification and fining in June 2020.

In 2015, Eric and Anna purchased a small vineyard at 1200 metres of altitude, planted solely to white grapes, in Contrada Nave, on the NW side of Mt Etna.  This wine is a blend of grapes from that high vineyard, fermented together with old bush vine Grecanico and Carricante sourced from their vineyards on the northern slopes of Mt Etna.  All the grapes were hand harvested and immediately whole bunched pressed into a 20hl used oak cask.  Fermentation was conducted by indigenous yeasts without temperature control. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation.  It remained on fine lees for 8 months in the 20hl oak cask before being bottled without clarification, fining.
